Tropical Fruits on Hainan Island
There are many kinds of tropical fruits on Hianan Island. Some of them, you might never see or taster before. I have lists them with pictures. If you are come to Sanya one day, you can try them.
Sweetsop: The fruits are heart-shaped with yellowish- and aromatic meat. The sweetsop has two harvests from February to March, and from September to November. The color of ripe fruits turns to greenish-yellow.
Passion fruit: The egg-shaped tropical fruits have soft pulp. It is also called the Magic fruit as it changes the taste shortly after you eat it. First you taste a little bit sour, but ten minutes later, you will feel sweet.
Guava: Guava is another popular tropical fruit on Hainan Island, rich in Crude Fiber, Protein, Calcium, Phosphorus, Vitamin A, B, and C. Most local people serve it with some pepper salt. It is good for eating fresh. It is agreeable with stomach.
Mangosteen: Mangosteen fruits have been touted as the “Queen of all fruits”. The ball-shaped purple fruits are available everywhere on Hainan Island. It has many uses in folk medicine. It has fresh and white editable flesh.

Pineapple: Pineapple is a kind of fresh and delicious tropical fruits and rich in vitamin. The ground grown fruits taste light sweet. Remember eat it after dinner not before dinner. It can quench your thirsty and help your digestion. It tastes better after putting into salt water for a few minutes. The best quality of pineapple is between May and July.
Mango: It is the king of Tropical Fruits. Hainan Island is the biggest Mango production center in China. The best mangos are available from March till June. Sometimes we could get late harvest till September.

Papaya: Papaya is one of the most popular fruits in Hainan. It is cool in nature according to traditional Chinese medicine. So eat some papaya can cure your sore throat and constipation. Papaya can be made into soup with pork.
Lychee:
Lychee is also a kind of hot fruits, so not eat too much at one time. The best time to taste fresh lychee on Hainan Island is from May till August. It is only produced in other provinces like Hainan, Guangdong and Fujian.
Banana: Hainan Island is the biggest banana production area in China. There are many kinds of bananas on this island. The small and yellow ones are much tastier and more delicious. You can have it all year around.
Star Fruit: It taste sweet. The yellow and big ones are better than small and green ones. Autumn is a good time to taste the best star fruits. To have a better taste, you could keep them in salty water for a few minutes.
Wax apple: The wax apple tastes light and fresh. In most supermarkets, you can find the beautiful and succulent wax apple. It costs around RMB30/Kg. Wax apple tastes better in winter.
Dragon fruit: Dragon fruit tastes very light. Peel off of the skin to taste fruits inside. It is available all year around. It would taste better if you put them in the freezer for a few minutes.

Rambutan: The color of Rambutan is flaming red. It has a lot of soft spines. The meat is white and taste light sweet. .Hainan Island is also the biggest base of Rambutan in China.
Sapodilla: The yellow and-brown flesh of this fruits tastes sweet. It is rich in glucose and vitamin, very important ingredients in Chinese medicine.
Betelnut: Actually it seems become a light drug for local people. You can see old ladies selling them along the every street. It is usually chewed with betel leaf and pepper salt. It is good for detoxification and diminishing inflammation.
Coconut: It is the most popular fruit in Hainan. You can buy everywhere. Yellow ones taste better than green ones. It is said the taste of the coconut is the best during noon time. The white fresh of coconut also tastes good.
Chinese wampee: The grapelike fruit tastes sweet and sour. For better sweat taste, get the bigger and brown-yellow ones. It harvests in June and July.

Jackfruit: The jackfruit is a melon shaped starchy fruit. Jackfruit is one of the largest tree-borne fruits on Hainan Island. The fruits grow both from the tree trunk and from branches in the tree. They have a rough spiny skin and the uncut ripe fruit has a strong unpleasant smell, resembling rotting onions - but the cut fruit has a strong aroma similar to papaya or pineapple. The interior consists of large bulbs of pulp. The seed can be boiled and edible.
