Dadonghai Bay

Dadonghai beach is a very nice beach with soft white sand and lovely blue turquoise water gently rolling on to the sand, there is no surf, which makes a very safe option for most tourists. It is the most popular tourists area in Sanya. Conpared with other two bays, Sanya Bay and Yalong Bay, this bay is most active, dynamic and welcomed by tourists as the beach is public not private owned by the nearby hotels or resorts. Everyone can go to the beach and enjoy swimming.

It is located 3 kilometers southeast of downtown, between Mt. Tuziwei and Mt. Luhuitou or Dear Park. Dadonghai has a crescent-shaped beach 2.3 kilometers long (about 1.4 miles) and green trees creating a very beautiful locaiton.

The famous beach is ideal for swimming, diving, beach sports, bathing and sunbathing. There are designated swimming areas which are marked by floating balls and rope for security concern. It has everything to support a seaside tourists, including a famous dive company—Red Coral Water Sports Center that can provide scuba diving, ship diving, seabed strolling, speed boat, jet-ski, water-ski, motorboat, luxury yacht, sail boat, ocean fishing, beach sports and underwater photography, The water temperature is about 24°C degrees even in winter, hence its reputation as an idyllic spot for winter holidaying and relaxation.. Even though the water quality is not as good as that at Yalong bay, Dadonghai still is a wonderful outdoor swimming and bathing place. At the thought of vernal sunshine and soft sea breezes you will be agreeably dissolved into the blue sky and seawater.

One distinctive feature of this bay is that the Russian tourists almost dominate this area. Pearl River Garden Hotel and Resort Intime has more than 50% of guests from Russian, so some people called Dadonghai the Russian Town in Sanya.  

As more and more foreign tourists (not only Russian) coming to Dadonghai area, the street vendors are scattered around the street and beach. It anoys you sometimes, but do not worry as long as your ignore them(almost are Hui ladies), so nothing could bother you.

Transportation: taxi from Sanya Phoenix International Airport directly to Dadonghai by 20 minutes,  taxi to Downtwon Sanya by 5 minutes, or double decker tourism buses & regular bus No.2 or No. 4 from Dadonghai to Downtown takes 10 minutes.
